If you are a service business owner you face unique challenges in digital marketing for your business.
Traditionally service businesses have served their clients locally, typically in a catchment area within a radius of up to 25 miles in every direction (challenging if your office is on the coast, where half of your prospective audience may be in the sea !). In the past, this meant that often the only way to scale was by opening new branches in the next major area of population (around 25 miles away). This is really evident when creating an audience using the map in Facebook and trying to set the distances from each major town or city in an area to avoid overlap.
But, service businesses have changed, and the increasing use of software as a service and online communication platforms like Zoom and Skype mean that distance is no longer such an important factor for the provision of many services.
This means that service business has become much more competitive and the old methods like “word of mouth”, newspaper ads and Yellow Pages stopped working a few years ago, and most successful service businesses get heavily involved in the digital world and post regularly on social media, create Facebook business pages, tweet and generally get busy.
So, whether you are providing Sofware As A Service (SAAS), or hourly paid services in one of the traditional professions such as law, accountancy, architecture or dentistry or even in one of the newer professions like marketing, coaching, consulting or even personal fitness training – you’re probably doing some form of digital marketing.
Question is – are you getting the results you want?
