If you want to create predictable business results and reap rich rewards in 5 years time, start planning for success today.
Because even though “Pele the piranha” may have been successful in picking 4 out of 6 winners in the last world cup, you will need to take much more consistent action to succeed in business.
In fact the daily practice and training regime of a “pro” football team in the days, months and years leading up to the match are the best predictor of success, and the same is true in business.
That’s why I’m writing this article, to help you create a sustainable 5-year vision, 90-day plan, and daily priorities and activities that will lead you to your victory!
“Unless commitment is made, there are only promises and hopes; but no plans.”
Peter F. Drucker
Step 1: Create your Business Vision
Imagine summer 5 years away and see you’re on track as you know you can choose when you want to exit or retire, notice your profits are up, your costs are down, you’re working fewer hours and you have peace of mind because you know you made the right decisions.
Make sure that you include your partner, your children, your extended family, your clients, (in fact everyone you care about) …
Write your Business Vision down!
Step 2 : Create your 90 Day Plan
Break your Business Vision down into steps, each of 90 days.
Think about the 6 factors you can influence to grow your business …
Your Crowd – the number of people who know about you on your social media channels (YouTube, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, Google Organic Searches).
- Your Capture – the number of people you have in your “in-house” contact database, or CRM or email marketing list (MailChimp or Infusionsoft).
- Your Conversion – the number of people who become paying clients.
- Your Cash value – the value of your average sale.
- Your Continuity – the number of times a client buys from you over time and the number of referrals you receive from that client.
- Your Costs – the amount you invest and spend to serve your clients.
- We created a simple tool to help you measure these key metrics precisely and consistently…

Think of all the steps that you need to take to get your business to your first 90-day milestone, taking into account these 6 factors, and break them down into small action steps that you can take each day, over the next 90 days.

Step 3: Review Your Progress Regularly
As you start your new project you will tend to have a high level of enthusiasm (If you don’t….. check, are you doing the right project).
Many people have a habit of putting in that extra effort to meet a deadline, so, create daily deadlines.
Review what you have accomplished, every day, and catch up at the end of the week.
We review Crowd, Capture, Conversion, Cash Value, Continuity, and Costs every day, at the end of every week and at the end of every month.
At the end of the 90 days either you will have achieved what you set out to do or you can create a new plan for the next 90 days.
Step 4: Do it Every Day.
Just like any other complex skill the more you practice the better you get.
So take action towards accomplishing your plan every day!
As you complete each task, mark it off on your calendar.
I use a physical diary, and I have just started using Google calendar which has a useful feature in that it sends an email to reminds you what you plan to do each day or hour depending on how you set it up.
Step 5: Celebrate
As you complete each action, take a few moments to enjoy the feeling of getting things done.
At the end of each day, it’s time to celebrate.
By Summer in 5 years time, if you stick to your 90 days planning and implementing success process, I guarantee you’ll be closer to being able to choose when you want to exit your business or retire or start to contribute more to your community.
Many of our clients are achieving amazing results using this 90-day planning method to create marketing campaigns, implement and track progress (with our expert guidance)…
